Yes, up until the offset headlamp. Maybe add a bit of trunk space (enough for a school bag), and use much lighter, stronger material, like carbon fiber and stuff. And modern, uprated suspension, one that can carve mountain roads and dirt tracks. Also, Alcantara seats set up lower than what's on this, and modern engine management display. But keep the steering wheel stock.

Same engine, but just 330 hp.

Oh, and optional wide tires for moar grip. Though I like the stock tires... looks great for drifting. OZ rims, though.

You don't drift a $30,000,000 Mercedes.. but I like the ambition.

That's not an offset headlamp, but rather an the air intake.

Anytime! And while I'm at it, I'll say that while I respect your interest in upgrading certain components, I would leave it bone stock and drive the hell out of it on the street. And at least once in the rain, just to further confuse the people. Thought if I had the real one, and second, replica with uprated everything and a carbon body would be pretty awesome!

I like the way you think, but after you do all that, you end up with a different car:

Oh, no, that's not what I meant!

Think origins of the Caterham R500.

I know what you mean. It's just that a classic like that merc gets its character from being so raw and analog. Start adding modern modern suspension, materials and engine management display and you've stripped it of its soul.

Watching footage of these classics race in their day with minimal safety equipment, suspension and tyres that made the driver put in all they had to power slide around corners is what makes it so amazing.

Still I wouldn't complain if someone handed me the keys to the car you dream of.

Actually, I was thinking Eagle Low-Drag or Singer 911 kind of replica/mod. Same silhouette, same but retuned engine, but with upgraded everythings. Except steering wheel, of course.

you want the engine in that. Heard o e run at Goodwood a few years ago and the sound was glorious. Plus if it had enough power for Fangio it has enough power for you.

This is reassuring. Thanks.
